The City of Rieux, 6 minutes from our campsite in Haute-Garonne
History:
The medieval town of Rieux, one of France's 100 most beautiful detours, is located in the heart of the Volvestre region, 45 km south of Toulouse. It boasts a prestigious heritage thanks to its status as a free city in 1202 and a royal judicature in 1245, of which numerous monuments bear witness.
A land of traditions :
Every 1st Sunday in May, the archers of Rieux-Volvestre take part in the “tir au papogay”, a tournament that dates back to the 14th century.
Near the campsite, daily tours of the cathedral and Episcopal treasury are available through the Tourist Office.
